Bakili Bullets’ sponsor former president Bakili Muluzi has said he will not poke his nose into the issue surrounding coach Kinnah Phiri’s future with the club.
Reacting to the coach’s statement that his future with the Bullets can only be determined by the sponsor, Muluzi’s spokesman Sam Mpasu said yesterday: “That is a management issue, the sponsor cannot determine the future of the coach, it is the executive of the club that has to decide.
“He is only a sponsor and he does not want to interfere in the running of the team. The sponsor is not the manager of the club, he is just a financier,” added Mpasu.
The Bullets chair Hassam Jussab said recently that the club has no money to pay the coach in the forthcoming season but Kinnah countered saying the club has no business to worry about his perks because he is paid by the sponsor.
But Mpasu said: “If it is an issue to do with the coach’s perks, then the club has to approach the sponsor and find out if he will still continue paying him.”
