Air Malawi adopts electronic ticketing
by: Henry Chilobwe, 12/7/2004, 11:02:27 AM

Air Malawi will from January next year start issuing electronic tickets to passengers boarding the company’s aircraft.
Tariff manager for the airline, Tony Chimpukusa, disclosed this at a Travel Agents Association of Malawi (TAAM), annual general meeting held in Mangochi last weekend.
Chimpukusa said electronic ticketing will reduce costs of printing as passengers will be issued with a Passenger Name Record (PNR) only.
PNR is an electronic card that will be used for identifying passengers.
He further said the airline is responding to global trends in information technology where manual ticketing is getting out of the market.
During the AGM the Travel Agents Association of Malawi also chose, for the second year running, South African Airways as the best airline of the year.
Presenting the award TAAM president Ken Banda said the association recognises the superb services that the airline provides to its clients.
South African Airways country manager Sibo Ncube said her company will continue to offer competitive services so that customers get the best value of their money.
