Super League champions Bakili Bullets have said they would like to have another go in the Caf Champions League following an unprecedented success in the current tournament.
The interest has been revived following the extension of the registration deadline for the competition from November 30 to December 15.
The Bullets claim they failed to meet the initial deadline because they could not rush to register without the consent of their sponsor former president Bakili Muluzi.
Club vice treasurer Kondi Msungama said they have already taken registration forms from the Football Association of Malawi (Fam).
“The deadline has been extended and right now, I am coming from Fam where I went to collect the registration forms because we are more than willing to register for the Caf League.
“But we cannot do that before meeting our sponsor. We want to tell the sponsor that we would like to join and if he supports the move, we will go ahead,” said Msungama.
Bullets secretary general Ophman Kondowe also said the extension of the registration deadline is very important to the club.
“Now we have enough time and we hope by December 15 [2004], we shall have met our sponsor, who is to guide us on whether we should join again or not,” he said.
Fam public relations and marketing officer Isabel Maziya confirmed Msungama had collected the registration forms.
In the previous season, the team finished in the quarter-final stages of the tournament where they were stopped by defending champions Enyimba of Nigeria following a 1-all draw in a return leg played at the Kamuzu Stadium on October 16, 2004.
