Bagus has case to answer
by: Joseph Langa, 11/11/2004, 11:02:23 AM

The Lilongwe Magistrate Court on Thursday ruled that UDF national organising secretary Salim Bagus has a case to answer on an accusation that he evaded tax.
His lawyer George Mwale and lawyer representing the state Mary Kachale confirmed this in separate interviews on Wednesday.
“Yes there was judgement today on whether he has a case and the court has ruled that he has a case to answer,” said Mwale.
Bagus, who is currently on bail, was charged with removal of goods contrary to provisions of Customs laws on goods under embargo.
He was bailed out after paying K30,000 cash ($278) and committed two sureties with K500,000 each (not cash).
Meanwhile, both parties are waiting for the court to set a date for continued hearing of the case.
