Bakili Bullets senior and junior players Monday returned from a victorious trip in Mozambique where they won a friendly match against Chingale Football Club with a 3-2 margin.
The match was played in Tete as part of the celebrations to mark the end of the tenure of office for that province’s governor who invited the local soccer kings.
According to Bullets coach Kinnah Phiri, the event was very interesting.
“It was very great to see our goalkeeper Trust Lunda scoring two goals in the second half. His goals were preceeded by Charles Chikumba’s first half strike,” he said.
Kinnah said as token of appreciation, all players and the officials given K2,000 each and Frelimo T-shirts since the event was organised by that party’s officials.
“From the senior side, we had striker Emmanuel Chipatala, midfielder Fundi Akidu and defender Wisdom Ndhlovu all of whom had been featuring in our Caf matches. The others were rested,” said the coach.
“At first, they said the winners would get a trophy but in the end, they did not give us any. But it was also very interesting to see people singing with their banjos and guitars during the event,” said one of the trip’s coordinators Mike Pereira.
He said the trip was arranged by a Malawi-based Mozambican, Chissano Anthony who works for Shire Buslines.
The junior players in the team included Dangalira Mlelemba, Kingsley Manda, Clement Kamangile, Byson Ngaye, Nelson Kumanda and Ernest Nyaude.
