Arrows wait for Mponda

Another South African Premier Soccer League side (PSL) Golden Arrows FC has breathed new life into their bid to get Bakili Bullets captain Peter Mponda on board, two years after the skilled defender made a dramatic change of heart to sign for the team.
Mponda’s locally-based manager Chris Kandulu said on Wednesday that Arrows had renewed their bid through their director and chairperson Mato Madlala.
“I spoke to Mato a few days ago and she said Arrows are still interested to sign Peter and they are just waiting for the outcome of his trials with Kaizer Chiefs and they would like to offer him an outright contract.
“But the situation is quite tricky in the sense that Arrows have also lined-up a Zambian defender and they will have to choose one between the two,” said Kandulu.
He also said Chiefs postponed Mponda’s assessment meeting to Friday a development Kandulu described as “very strange.”
“We find it very strange that Chiefs keep on shifting the goal posts, it would have been better for them to let the cat out of the bag so that the player should be in the know. At the moment he is tied and cannot commit himself to Arrows or making arrangements for trials with Spartak Moscow of Russia,” said Kandulu.
He said Chiefs’ team manager Bobby Motaung who sang praises of the player early this week, has promised to communicate the outcome of the trials at least by Friday.
Meanwhile midfield dynamo Peter Mgangira finally left the country on Wednesday afternoon for Denmark to join first division side Horfolge Bold Klub.
The player’s manager Ben Chiwaya said Mgangira arrived in Denmark on Thursday morning and is expected to feature in a trial match on Friday ahead of the Danish League which kicks-off on Sunday.
