Ibrahim Mojoo had all the reason to smile last Saturday afternoon when he beat several other golfers to win the Nu-Tread golf tournament which was staged at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).
It was a huge reward for Mojoo who travelled all the way from Blantyre to participate in this tournament. Add to that the fact that Mojoo had been starved of victory for quite sometime.
“In view of the bad spell that I have had, I am pleased to have won this tournament because it is a consolation for me. Having travelled all way from Blantyre I have been hugely rewarded. The win has definitely restored my confidence,” said Mojoo soon after he had collected his prizes.
Michael Antonie, who is managing director of Nu-Tread, said his firm thought it wise of reviving the Month to Month tournaments as one way of promoting the sport. He also thanked the 57 golfers who graced the occasion.
“But my special thanks should go to the organising secretary Mohamed Lambat, Stallard Mpata and Dan Phiri who did a very commendable job to make the tournament a reality,” said Antonie.
The LGC captain Bailey Lincoln was all praises for the green keeper who made the tourney a success.
Dan Phiri came second in the men’s category with 77 points, six points short of the eventual winner Mojoo. Migel Maciel came third with 77 points (after a count back).
In the women’s category, Angela Bowden came tops followed by Maima Chilingulo and Kelly Ernst
