All is set for the Carlsberg Champions’ Golf Tournament which tees-off on Friday from noon at the fresh grown rough of Country Club Limbe to identify the best golfer who will represent the country at the Pro-Am Malaysian Carlsberg Open in Kuala Lumpur next month.
Carlsbrg’s marketing manager Elias Iman said all the golfers who are scheduled to take part in the two-day tournament which will be played in two different courses, have confirmed participation.
The first group to play in Friday’s tournament which will be played on medal format, will be David Heyes, George Chikowi and Kevin Coombes with James Hinde as the referee.
Next on the course at 12.10PM will be Smile Namagonya, Dzimani Kadzamira and Charles Mukina and the referee will be Mike Hubbe.
The last group comprising of Evason Chintali, Nick Pallister and Frank Chinkhandwe will start off at 12.20PM and the ref will be Nigel Williams.
Tomorrow the show will shift to Blantyre Sports Club where the 10 star golfers will be joined by Leon Heynes (customer), budding star Jason Perreira (partner), Tony Morland (customer), Anders Lassen (sponsor) Kevin Brown (sponsor), Ian Rathbone (sponsor), Saulos Chilima (sponsor) and Digby MacDowell.The format will be medal.
Golfers travelling from the capital Lilongwe and Zomba will be accorded VIP treatment, they will be accommodated at Mlika Club on brand Carlsberg account.
In addition to that, all meals and drinks (only those produced, sold and marketed by Southern Bottlers and Carlsberg Malawi Brewery bills shall be borne by brand Carlsberg.
The winner of the tournament will be awarded an amazing dream of playing and interacting with the world’s great golfers at the 2204 Carlsberg Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur which will start on February 16 to 22.
The runner-up will get a three-litre Carlsberg glass, 12 golf balls and 10 cases of beer or soft drinks. The third will get a three-litre Carlsberg glass and five crates of beer or soft drinks
