by: Oris Chimenya, 11/28/2003, 3:37:37 PM

The Banja La Mtsogolo sponsored Vasectomy Social Football Trophy competition kicks off tomorrow from 8 AM BAT football ground.
The tournament, which has attracted 19 teams from the Southern Region, will start on a knockout basis on Saturday before moving to group stages later.
The reproductive healthcare NGO marketing officer Kondwani Banda said in an interview on Thursday the trophy was organised to encourage men to take a lead in family planning issues.
“Vasectomy is a men’s family planning method. So we thought it wise to call the tournament as such because most of the times, it is women who go to Banja La Mtsogolo clinics to get family planning methods and counselling.
“Responsible and caring men cannot afford to have a big family bearing in mind the cost of living these days,” said Banda.
He added that by the end of the K100,000 ($925) trophy, men should be able to take a self-initiative in considering and implementing the different family planning methods in their families.
Banda disclosed that the winning team will get K25,000, second K15,000 while the team on third position will go home K10,000 richer.
Below is the full fixture of the tournament: Saturday: Nasolo vs. National Bank (8 AM), Zabweka Stars vs Stanbic (9:30 AM), Information vs. Calm Down (11 am), Mudi vs. Alumni (12:30PM).
