Mobile phone service provider Celtel on Saturday spread their network coverage to Nkhata Bay, a move that is expected to curb communication problems faced by both locals and tourists in this growing tourism town.
The switching on of Nkhata Bay brings to ten the number of new centres connected by the company this year alone.
“We are glad that there is good signal around the town area, hospital, Chikale residential and beach, Njaya Lodge and along all the lake stretch bordering this area. With Celtel, quality signal is the hall mark,” Celtel marketing manager Khumbo Sambo said.
Sambo said considering that Nkhata Bay is a tourism haven to the country, the company invested so much in the quality of the signal to ensure that people could easily communicate.
Said Sambo: “We feel that in investing so much in quality of our entire network, we give our customers the best service in communication. The Nkhata Bay network would be complementing the Dwangwa, Mzuzu, and Nkhota Kota network, hence an articulating network of the Lakeshore.”
He said since the country is undergoing technological advancement, Celtel has plans to connect most parts of the country, especially those in the rural areas.
Sambo also said his company believed that all areas in Malawi deserved to be connected on cell phone network, hence his company’s commitment in this direction.
