The Ninkawa Snooker League season, which officially closed last Thursday, will be replaced by monthly competitions to be held at various sports clubs in Blantyre.
Making the announcement, Blantyre Sports Club snooker section chairman Bashir Shariff said teams will find their own sponsors and a venue for the monthly mugs.
“We had a meeting where we discussed the problem of sponsorship and it was resolved that a team should sponsor a competition for a particular month,” said Shariff.
Shariff said this new system of teams finding sponsors for a mug is much easier than the snooker section looking for well-wishers who can support a tournament.
“We felt it would be easy for a team to get sponsors for a monthly tournament,” he said.
The monthly mugs will start next month and there will be a break in December when people go for Christmas holidays.
