Chess league AGM on Saturday

Mzuzu District Chess League will on Saturday go to polls to elect new office bearers for 2003/4 season at Chibisa Recreation Centre, according to league secretary Ken Gondwe.
“Only committed candidates will be elected,” the secretary said.
Gondwe disclosed that the league chairman Kezzie Musukwa has pledged to top up the cash prize money with K5,000 to make it K10,000.
The champion will receive K3,000, runner-up K2,000 and third placed K1,000. Consolation cash prize of K250 each will be given to position four up to eight, Gondwe said.
The July championship, which was the 10th, was won by Wasoka Chirwa after he registered five points to clinch the monthly title.
