Dalapa off E-wallet
by: Herbert Chandilanga, 11/14/2006, 5:48:20 AM

Ishmael Dapalapa became the latest evictee in the E-Wallet music identification project in a show held at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe on Saturday.
It must have been a very big blow for the Lilongwe-based Dapalapa having to fall from the race right at his backyard.
Now the going gets tougher with just three more shows to the end.
The project employs a format similar to that of the acclaimed Pop Idols where contestants are evicted at every performance.
Out of the initial 25, only Lumbani Phiri, Linda Chikondi, Grace Suzumire, Davie Chiwaya and Penjani Mdumuka are still forcing their way to the coveted reigns.
Chikondi had a double celebration, having survived the chop on her wedding day.
She appeared at the performance still clad in her wedding dress as she came straight from the wedding reception.
Director of the show Felix Njawala noted that Lilongwe fans had waited on end for the show and that “the huge response they showed on Saturday was a manifestation of how they want the E-Wallet fun”.
“The response surpassed our expectations and the patrons are still craving for more. They are justified to call it back to the Capital City bearing in mind the show had pitched camp in Blantyre ever since it started. Therefore the next show goes back to Lilongwe November 25.
“Blantyre fans must expect the show back at Mount Soche on December 2. That will be the project’s last but one show. Then the 2006 project will conclude in Lilongwe on December 16. Here the last three will compete for the top three positions,” said Njawala.
The winner will walk away with K100,000 on top of a yearlong recording deal with the Canada-based Otowne Records.
