Football Association of Malawi (Fam) president Walter Nyamilandu has said he is ready to patch-up with his first second vice Steve Msambila following requests by the latter to sort out their differences through a round table discussion.
The Fam boss got furious with Msambila and an executive member McCollins Chibvunde after the duo accused him of making unilateral decisions on crucial issues without the blessing of the executive.
But Nyamilandu, who warned the two with unspecified action, eased down a gear on Msambila, saying his door is wide open for reconciliation talks.
“Several officials including Fam first vice president Anderson Zimba approached me to inform me that the second veep wants us to sit down and sort out the differences that are there and I have told them that I have no problem.
“I am happy that the second veep has realised that the current situation is retrogressive in our efforts to develop the game. We have to resolve the issues amicably,” said the Fam head.
However, Nyamilandu refused to say anything on Chibvunde.
“I cannot comment anything on Chibvunde, I am talking about what is on the table,” he said.
Chibvunde thrust the knife deeper a few days ago and accused his boss of dodging Fam executive meetings for fear of being taken to task on several issues like the manner in which Flames caretaker coach Kinnah Phiri was engaged, the proceeds from the sale of Mpira House and the firing of Germany coach Burkhard Ziese.
“There are many things that we have kept under the carpet for some time which needs the president’s explanation, unfortunately every time we ask for an executive meeting, he keeps on coming up with lame excuses.
“We were supposed to have an executive meeting in August, but two months down the line nothing has been done. Some of us even offered to fund the meeting,” challenged Chibvunde.
But Nyamilandu brushed off Chibvunde’s claims saying he has never dodged an executive meeting.
“In the first place why should I dodge an executive meeting? I have no skeletons in my cupboard. Executive meetings are held quarterly and the next one is supposed to be held in December, you can even cross-check that with Fam secretariat,” he said.
Zimba confirmed in a telephone interview from Mzuzu that the reconciliation meeting will be held in Blantyre within the week.
Msambila also confirmed that he will meet his boss when he comes for an administration workshop in Blantyre this week.
