Nomads suspend three players
By: Garry Chirwa
Mighty MTL Wanderers yesterday suspended three players who boycotted last weekend’s BP Top 8 match against Red Lions just an hour before the game, according to inside sources.
The Nomads are also reported to have fired their assistant team manager Montfort Pemba for cancelling Saturday morning’s training session due to bad weather.
Midfielders Lawrence ‘Tico-Tico’ Majawa and Maxwell Chirwa and striker Mike Maganga will not be part of the Nomads’ arsenal against bitter rivals Total Big Bullets in an expected absorbing K7 million Carlsberg Cup final match on Saturday following Monday night’s decision by the club’s disciplinary and executive committees.
The source disclosed that the crucial meet unanimously agreed that the three players’ behaviour was deplorable and slapped them with an indefinite suspension.
However, the club’s vice general secretary Henry ‘Kaka’ Chibowa was evasive when he was asked to comment on the issue.
