U-20 beat Red Lions 1-0

A last minute shot by Malawi Under-20 striker Chiukepo Msowoya gave the junior Flames a 1-0 win over Red Lions on Wednesday in a friendly organised to test the former’s preparations for tomorrow’s Caf Youth Championship against Cameroon at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
The West Africans won the first leg in Yaounde 2-0.
According to Under-20 assistant coach Aubrey Nankhuni, the goal came in the 88th minute from a free kick taken by Sydney Bakasi.
The Lions goalie Jaffalie Saizi spilled the ball and Chiukepo pounced on the chance to score the lonely goal.
The victory, according to Nankhuni, showed their preparations were good.
“It was a physical game but we were impressed because we were able to hold the Lions and we created a lot of chances. Our plan for [tomorrow] is to attack at all costs,” Nankhuni said.
Asked whether they can overturn the tables against Cameroon, Nankhuni said there is no problem.
“We can beat Cameroon,” he stated.
“The [Peter] Wadabwa and [Victor] Nyirenda combination was the best. We expect to get much from this duo come Saturday,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fam has announced that the match, which was initially scheduled to be played at Kamuzu Stadium will be played at Silver Stadium.
“This has been done because Fam does not have the money to fly the visitors from Lilongwe to Blantyre. The money required is in excess of K600,000,” said Fam general secretary Yasin Osman.
The Cameroonians, whose senior national team is second to Nigeria in Africa, arrived in the country on Wednesday. The Malawi side left Blantyre on Thursday afternoon for Lilongwe.
