MTL Wanderers are involved in a heated dispute with their rivals Big Bullets and Super Escom over the ownership of Under-20 international midfielder Charles Kalaile and Flames’ goal tender Semion Kapuza.
The nomads have brought to a halt moves by Bullets and Escom to sign the two players as free agents, insisting that they had just been loaned them to other clubs.
Apparently, both players are also claiming they are free agents having been given the boot from Lali Lubani Road a couple of years back.
Nomads chair Sydney Chikoti stressed on Thursday that if Bullets and Escom are interested in signing Kalaile and Kapuza respectively, then they should enter into negotiations with them.
“We are aware that they want to use short-cuts to sign our players but we’ll not allow that. Kalaile is our player and we first loaned him to Sammy’s United and then later on to Blue Eagles. The documents are there at Sulom and if Bullets want him, they know the procedures, let them approach us,” said Chikoti.
On Kapuza, Chikoti said: “Similarly, he was also on loan and Escom shouldn’t try to play games because they are aware, the records at Sulom show that he is our player and if they want to sign him permanently, then we can open negotiations.”
However, both Bullets general secretary Willie Phalula and Escom team manager Simon Mkandawire brushed off the claims saying the nomads are clinging to the players.
Said Phalula: “Kalaile is a free agent because he was released by Wanderers to join a team of his choice two seasons ago. Why should he become their property now?”
On his part, Mkandawire said Kapuza was also dismissed from the nomads along with five other players sometime back and they went on to join teams of their choice.
“The player himself is surprised and as a team, we also have lots of questions because there are no records to show that Kapuza was released on loan. We have taken up the matter with Sulom and we are waiting for their position on this matter,” said Mkandawire.
However, Sulom general secretary Chris Kamphinda Banda said that according to the records, both players belong to nomads and went to other clubs on loan.
