If you were doubting that some people sell human parts for a living, this is the time to believe. Home Affairs Minister Anne Kachikho (in the picture) has revealed in parliament that police have discovered some of the traffickers and they are rounding them up.
Kachikho told parliament on Friday that the arrest of three young men at Lilongwe Hotel, after being found in possession of several sets of male private parts, led to the arrest of a man believed to be the main actor in the syndicate.
“We have managed to arrest the principal suspect,” Kachikho said adding that police also discovered a dead body believed to be the source of private parts that Leonard Ganizani, Felix Maganga and Jackson Chisepo were found with on Thursday at the hotel.
The minister told the House that the three confessed they were middle men in the human parts business.
The three, smartly dressed and middle-aged, had a set of fresh male private parts wrapped in a plastic paper and hidden in a hat at the time of their arrest. They also hid another plastic bag, in which were similar parts, in the boot of a posh car they parked outside the hotel.
According to Central Region Police spokesman Moyenda Chitimbe, the arrest of Ganizani, 28, Maganga, 42 and Chisepo, 34 led to that of Sumaili Daudi, 27 from Mchepa village in Traditional Authority Kauma in Dedza.
Chitimbe said Daudi is believed to have murdered Backson Makondetsa, 42, and removed his private parts before dumping the corpse in a river at Lumbadzi. Late Makondetsa hailed from Dzoole village in Chief Mkukula’s area in Dowa district.
“We have charged them with murder and ritual killing for ritual money and they are likely to appear in court next week,” Chitimbe said.
Leader of opposition John Tembo commended the police on the arrest and for informing parliament in good time about what had been done so far.
Ganizani comes from TA Chimutu in Lilongwe while Maganga is from Perenje village in TA Nkalo, Chiradzulu. Chisepo, who at first claimed to be a mere taxi driver and ignorant about the private parts, hails from Chikulamayembe village in Dedza district.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that private human parts sell like gold among people who use them for satanic rituals.
