Central Basketball League in play-offs

Central Basketball League has organised pre-season play-offs to take place Saturday at the African Bible College’s (ABC), Malcolm Gymnasium in Lilongwe.
According to Daudi Suleman and Rocky Kaunda of Crossover Basketball, a Christian basketball outreach ministry, which runs the league, the tournament is in preparation for the Central Basketball League second phase, which kicks off next Saturday.
“This tournament is a wake up call to the teams as we prepare for the second phase. We are looking forward to another exciting season. We hope to improve on the weaknesses that were there,” said Suleman.
The league carters for secondary school and institutional teams. The following teams are expected to participate: Bwaila, Chinsapo, Dzenza secondary schools, ABC Lions, Kamuzu Academy, Kamuzu Institute for Sports, Panthers, 36ers and Bishop Mackenzie.
Crossover Basketball introduced the league with the aim of sharing the word of God to sportsmen and women through the game of basketball.
According to Suleman, other objectives of the ministry include promoting love, basketball, self respect and discipline among the youths in Malawi.
The ministry is currently running basketball clinics at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.
