Bakili Bullets have lifted the six-week suspension slapped on their assertive winger Fischer ‘Anong’a’ Kondowe and the player will be available for selection this weekend when the people’s team line-up against Silver Strikers and Blue Eagles in Lilongwe.
Club general secretary Willie Phalula said Friday the executive has come up with a decision because Kondowe had shown a lot of remorse.
“He apologised to the executive and he also made a public apology on Television Malawi (TVM) and retracted all what he said in the first interview.
“We therefore convened a meeting on Thursday evening which lasted for about two hours and we agreed that the suspension had given Fischer some food for thought and he has now come to his senses,” said Phalula.
The Bullets spokesman dismissed suggestions that the suspension has been lifted because of pressure from some fans.
“Not at all, we cannot compromise discipline. If that we the case then he should not have served four weeks, the truth is that he has shown remorse. Mind you, it was not something personal,” said Phalula.
Asked if the dreadlocked player will be featured in the weekend games, Phalula said: “He is available for selection because he has been training with the team but on whether he will be featured that will be determined by the technical panel.
“That is entirely the responsibility of the technical panel and we cannot interfere in their job.”
Kondowe himself said he had been communicated about the development and was very happy.
“I am happy, it’s unfortunate things happened in that way, perhaps it was just the heat of the moment. All I want now is to get back on the pitch and play the game that I enjoy and love,” said Kondowe.
Kondowe was slapped with a six-week suspension for gross indiscipline.
