Super League defending champions Bakili Bullets on Sunday left Zomba Community ground dejected after they were beaten 1-0 by lowly ranked Cobbe Barracks.
The lone goal, according to reports from Zomba, was scored by Mangaliso Thole towards the end of the first half.
Bullets coach Kinnah Phiri in an interview said his charges fluffed a number of scoring opportunities.
Kinnah also blamed the officiating personnel for not blowing the whistle when goalie Trust Lunda was hit on the shoulder as the goal was being scored.
“It is disappointing that he (referee) allowed the goal. We substituted Lunda soon after that incident,” said Kinnah.
The Bullets mentor explained that some of the Bullets players who went with Flames to Tunisia did not feature in the game.
“Only Wisdom Ndhovu played. Those that did not are Swadick Sanudi, Fischer Kondowe and James Chilapondwa,”said Kinnah.
This is the second win for Cobbe Barracks since they were promoted into the Super League.
At Kamuzu Stadium, MTL Wanderers had to come from behind to settle for an 1-all draw with Sammy’s United on Sunday.
United striker Thango Mphamba scored just nine minutes into the game.
It was a game that the nomads failed to dictate matters in especially in the first half. Sammy’s defence marshalled by Mc Donald Lumbe was a hard nut to crack for veteran Albert Mpinganjira, Joel Chipofwa and Aggrey Kanyenda.
Nomads nevertheless fought back to claim an equaliser through Mpinganjira on the 39th minute.
Nafe Msasa curled in a cross from the right flank and Mpinganjira easily converted following a mix-up in Sammy’s defence.
The nomads clobbered Super Escom 2-0 on same venue the previous day.
