Bakili Bullets fire eight players
by: Oris Chimenya, 3/4/2005, 2:07:36 PM

The country’s soccer powerhouse Bakili Bullets has fired eight players, it has been learnt.
Bullets chairman Sunduzwayo Madise confirmed the development on Thursday saying the club’s coach Kinnah Phiri presented to the executive committee names of the players approved by the technical committee.
But Madise declined to name the players who have been chopped, saying they should not learn about their dismissal from the press.
“When we came in, we found that 21 players were registered and from that time up to now, we have over 30 players. Some signed forms that they would be playing but they do not report for training while others report for training,” he said.
He added: “The coach has already given us the list but we are not ready to release the names until the players are told. We believe every player has a potential and that in the event that they don’t fit in our plans, they can always fit in other club’s plans”.
The chairman also said some the players will be sold to other clubs “who may approach us”. He added that others will be loaned out or released as free agents.
Madise said the club cannot maintain the “big” squad because of the restructuring process it is undergoing.
Kinnah confirmed presenting the squad to the executive committee but could not say the exact criteria used in selecting them.
“That is an internal matter. We started preparing the team for this season in January this year and we have chosen the players according to what we were preparing the team for.
“We will be monitoring players inside the club and outside the club and we will continue releasing the players if they don’t perform until we have a better club,” he said.
In another development, the club has opened negotiations with Central Region giants Silver Strikers on its former left winger Emmanuel Chipatala who is intending to return to Bakili Bullets.
“If we had money, we could have just paid straight away, but unfortunately, we don’t have hence the negotiations,” he said.
