Bakili Bullets have registered 25 players for this year’s edition of the continental Caf Champions League amid fears for disqualification due to late registration.
The list includes one Nigerian player Walasi Macaulay who joined the local soccer giants late last year from Rwanda where he was turning up for APR Football Club.
Bullets general secretary Ophman Kondowe said Tuesday soon after getting Fam’s and Sulom’s approval on the list of players: “We are sending the list by DHL mailing agents. The registration deadline is January 15, 2005 [tomorrow,” said Kondowe.
Kondowe said Bakili Bullets hope not to be disqualified because the registration forms which the club sent mid-December last year were received.
But what about sponsorship?
“Our sponsor has already said that he would like to sponsor us in the Caf League and we hope that he will also give us the money as he has said,” said the Bullets GS.
Caf’s press officer Shariff Aly told The Nation in a telephone interview from Cairo last week that the Bullets’ fate regarding their participation will be known after this weekend when the Africa’s football governing body considers late applications. |
