Cavalry Family Church (CFC) Radio DJ Peter Sambo will tomorrow launch his debut 10-track gospel album Pa Cavalry at Le Meridien Mount Soche’s Njamba room.
Sambo, a former FM 101 DJ whose trademark name was Total Blackout, told The Nation the album was recorded at Rhema Studio in Blantyre and has one track in English and the rest in Chichewa.
One song, Adzayankha-Amamva is enjoying air time on most of the country’s radio stations and doing well on charts.
Sambo, 22, says he classifies his music as pop-gospel.
“Before I was born again, my kind of music was pop by Westlife, Britney Spears and Nysnc and so this is the kind of music that I play,” Sambo, who has previously performed alongside Tionge Mhango, Chipiliro Mtumodzi and Jeff Kayira, says.
According to Sambo, various gospel artists such as Reazon Y, The Lac, Rudo Mkukupha, Adams Family, Springs and Roy K will grace the occasion.
Sambo recorded Pa Cavalry with his group, Kairosi Music.

Kalimba invades BT
by Phillip Banda

The Lilongwe-based Kalimba Band is bringing Mkazi wa Chingoni and Anabanda to Blantyre this evening in a phungwe! at Motel Paradise.
According to Jai ‘Mr. Entertainer’ Banda, Ben Michael and the Zigzaggers and Uhuru will also be at the show.
“Kalimba Band has been on the music scene for sometime and people in April last year enjoyed numbers like Kalanga, Sweet Reggae Music, Ali Ndi Mwana Agwiritse and many more,” said Banda.
“People will taste some of the latest numbers from my upcoming album Press Conference. I am sure my lead guitar wizard Owen Hulera and other members will make the show a lively phungwe,” added Michael in an interview.
Uhuru’s ‘Pretty Boy’ Wyson Matola, one of the artists to feature said: “All the numbers—Apolisi, Ngomo, Chelinile, Isabella, Azisiya, and Chitserekwete— will be played”.
