Escom join hang list
The K16.5m Bakili Muluzi Super League (BMSL) has reached an interesting stage with Blantyre-based notorious side Super Escom and Salima soldiers Mafco sitting right on the machete edge.
Whether followers of the two sides like it or not, one of the teams is going to join Dwasco, Illovo and Mzadd Rangers on the hang list. Last week, I wanted to disclose the full list of teams facing the death sentence but I decided otherwise just to give teams like Dwasco the benefit of doubt.
Dwasco were meeting Illovo and MTL Wanderers and a win plus a draw in the two games would have saved them from relegation. But the lakeshore giants went on to lose both games. Mind you, this is a team which has only been winning home games and performing miserably in away fixtures.
This week I am not resisting the temptation of disclosing the full list of relegation victims. After all, three teams have already been known and my humble duty is just to disclose the fourth casualty.
Before I do that, I just want to remind the soccer fraternity of the frequent power blackouts that we were experiencing at a certain period. Not only have we been experiencing blackouts, some us have suffered electricity disconnections after failing to settle bills.
Despite the tough economic situations Escom never showed any mercy by disconnecting us even from the roofs.
Now the 40th day has come for Escom and it is time to ‘disconnect’ their team, Super Escom, from the lucrative Super League. Bon Voyage to the lower league.
