My Prediction
by Leonard Sharra, 06 August 2004 - 15:59:11
Fresh from a 6-0 demolition at the hands of Nigerian giants Enyimba, Bakili Bullets will be out to collect their first points as they face fellow whipping boys Africa Sports from Ivory Coast in a Caf Champions League first leg encounter slated for Chichiri Stadium for Sunday afternoon.
Both the Bullets and Africa Sports are yet to collect a point in the mini league stage, having lost to Sahel of Tunisia and the heartless Enyimba. Africa Sports lost at home to Enyimba by a quarter dozen to nil while the Bullets conceded half dozen goals without replying in Nigeria.
We don’t know what happened to Africa Sports for them to concede a quarter dozen goals at home but for Bakili Bullets we know they were made to play on a muddy pitch — a very good excuse for the 6-0 loss.
Because of the losses that the two teams have suffered in the mini league, each of them will take this Sunday’s game as an opportunity to collect first points.
I have already heard Bullets fans declaring that come rain, sunshine or the mud that was in Nigeria, Bullets will carry the day to day.
Much as Malawians would have loved to see their team roasting the Ivorians, this column is failing to see who is better between the two losers. That is why I am predicting a draw. Congrats to both teams for earning first point.
