Day of mourning—Jussab
by Garry Chirwa, 27 July 2004 - 09:25:11
A shell-shocked Bakili Bullets boss Hassam Jussab who spoke tough just before the team’s departure for Nigeria last week where they were thumped 6-0 in the Caf Champions League Group A match against defending champions Enyimba, was left dumbfounded on Monday and could not comment on the disastrous result.
Jussab, who returned from the West African nation on the day of the game to attend to a sick relation said: “I am at a loss of words...I cannot say anything, this is a day of mourning.”
But what about his outbursts prior to the match that they would come back unscathed, Jussab said: “You don’t go to a war thinking that you’ll lose, that was part of a psychological warfare, it happens...it’s just part of the game.”
Did Jussab view the humiliation as a disaster?
“You mean 6-0? oh Yes ! it is a disaster but as I said I can’t say anything, this day is specifically for mourning,” he said.
But when the Bullets chair softened up during the interview, he said: “Let’s get it from the horse’s mouth...let’s wait for the people who watched the game and hear what went wrong.”
The Bullets are expected back home on Wednesday. They are currently on the basement of Group A with no point from two games having been beaten by Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in their opening game.
