| Nam names Cosana squad |

Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has named the final list of 12 players who are expected to travel to Durban, South Africa, this weekend for the regional Cosana showcase which will run from July 19-24.
Nam general secretary Edith Kaliati said the netball queens are scheduled to leave on Saturday but are still waiting for funding from Sports Council.
“We have made the bookings, all that we are waiting for is the funding and we are keeping our fingers crossed that everything will be sorted out at least by Thursday,” said Kaliati.
Government recently reduced Nam’s budget for the trip from K4.7 million to K3 million.
She also said the team has had enough preparations for the tournament and they are looking forward to a great performance.
“Although we did not go into camp to prepare for the tournament, the girls are geared for the competition,” she said.
The Nam spokesman also said the few new faces in the team like Lincy Akidy, Anne Kapatuka and Esther Kayira are blending well with the old guard.
The 12 players who will make the trip are Emma Mzagada, Mary Waya Ng’oma, Linda Magombo, Ruth Kaipa, Lincy Akidu, Sylvia Malenga Mtetemera, Esther Kayira, Peace Chawinga, Judith Chalusa, Anne Kapatuka, Caroline Mtukule and Esther Nkhoma.
Those that have since been dropped are Anne Mopiha, Kelita Hau and Esther Chiumia. |
