6 win prizes in ICT fair |

Six companies last week won various prizes during this year’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) exhibition.
In the suppliers category, Compubyte won the gold medal, according to the Southern Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry publicity secretary John Banda.
The exhibition also saw Compubyte enjoying a double celebration because the company was also nominated for having “the best display”.
Banda said Computer Connections got a silver medal while Bestol Bell received a bronze medal in this category.
In the service providers category, Multichoice clinched the gold medal, Bumas International got silver while Malawi Telecommunications Limited grabbed a bronze medal.
“This was a very successful exhibition,” said Banda.
The fair, which took place at Chichiri Conference Centre from April 22 to 26, attracted 18 participants including computer software giant Microsoft and IBM.
The aim of the fair was to help companies share knowledge and market themselves to both local and international markets, according to Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The activity attracted a participation fee of K30,000 and K35,000 for members and non members respectively.
The theme for this year’s exhibition was “ICT—boosting shared opportunities in a global knowledge economy.
