TTAM looking for K997,000
by Oris Chimenya, 10 March 2004 - 17:24:35

The Table Tennis Association of Malawi (TTAM) has said it is looking for K997,000 for the Malawi junior national team’s participation at the 13th African Youth Championships slated for Ghana’s capital Accra from March 29-April 4.
The previous Championships were held in South Africa in December 2002 to which Malawi sent 16 competitors, who managed to bring two bronze medals after travelling by road. The trip was self-sponsored.
A release from TTAM says Malawi intends to send only three girls, two boys and one official to this year’s championships.
“This is in consideration for the current financial constraints. The results of the championships may boost Malawi’s chances of participation at the Athens Olympics,” says the release signed by TTAM secretary general Floriano Massah.
