A Korean national is planning to build a model Malawian village in South Korea where Malawian culture and products will be displayed in a bid to sell the country’s tourism industry to Asian potential investors.
Kim Tae Young, who is currently travelling to various places in the country to study how Malawians live both in towns and villages, said in an interview in Mzuzu on Wednesday he likes the country’s way of life and felt that people in Asia would be interested in it too if know much about it.
“I have been to the lake in Mangochi, Salima, Nkhata Bay and Nkhotakota. I have also been to Mulanje Mountain, Zomba plateau. Malawi is so wonderful, and the people are truly warm and tender. I want people in South Korea to have such a feel so that they can come to Malawi to see the reality,” said Tae Young.
Tae Young who is being assisted by management of Korea Garden Lodge of Lilongwe said it is a pity that many Koreans do not know the treasures of Malawi.
Soeng Ho Cho, managing director for Korea Gardern Lodge and Korea restaurant in Lilongwe in another interview said he felt that if the project materialises it would boost Malawi’s economy as it would earn more foreign currency.
Cho said: “ I am just more than willing to help Malawi be an attraction centre to both tourists and those interested to invest in it. |
