Malawi Congress Party (MCP) says it is ready to work with other opposition parties to oust UDF in the May 18 elections.
MCP president John Tembo was speaking Sunday at Katoto Freedom Park in Mzuzu.
“We are ready to work with other parties, especially those that have gone to conventions to elect leaders,” said Tembo, adding once in government, MCP will teach people to produce and not only to consume wealth.
“What type of government is this? It is failing to produce electricity blaming monkeys on intermittent power supply.
“When MCP was in power there were no frequent power cuts. Malawi is gone. There is too much corruption,” he said, adding the UDF tried to destroy his political career but failed.
“UDF tried all ways to destroy me but failed. They used the Mwanza case but I was acquitted.
“They came up with another issue that I wanted to kill bishop, it flopped again,” said Tembo, adding that they also took him to court for contempt charges where five Supreme Court judges found him innocent.
He said he a strong politician who cannot be destroyed easily since he learnt politics from the former head of state Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
“I thank them for letting justice to prevail. I am clean and I have no criminal record,” said Tembo, urging people to vote wisely on May 18 when the country goes to the polls.
