Airline awards agents,Airline awards agents
by Herbert Piriminta,Herbert Piriminta, 30 December 2003 - 18:15:35
The Ethiopian Airlines Monday awarded its Malawian best performing travel agents in 2003 with certificates and gifts for supporting the airline.
Ethiopian Airlines area manager for Malawi Damtew Seyoum said this is part of a policy the airline has made to recognise travel agents who provided best performance in the year.
“We are giving the awards to whoever did good to the airline. We are awarding those who generated more revenue for the airline - those who sold the Ethiopian Airlines more,” said Seyoum.
He said this is the first time the airline has awarded best performers and the awards will be done yearly as one way of giving them incentives to promote and sell the airline.
Seyoum said the two new generation aeroplanes the airline acquired in November will boost the chances of selling the airline.
Midland Travel Agency emerged the best performer followed by Orbit Tours and Travel, Airco Travel, Rainbow Travel, Manica (Rennies) Travel and Soche Tours and Travel agencies on the second to sixth positions, respectively.
Midland Travel Agency managing director Ibrahim Pandor said he felt great that his agency emerged the best. He said this makes the agency an established market.
“It’s just dedication from our team. Ethiopian Airlines is sellable. It has a good class and its routes are popular, making it easier for us to sell the airline,” said Pandor.
