Bakili Bullets said on Tuesday that their former defender-cum-midfielder Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda will not join South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Hellenic because the Bullets are offering him a better deal.
Mponda was offered a six-months contract by Hellenic after a two-week successful trials in Durban but Jussab said on Tuesday that his team has come up with a good counter-offer.
“Peter will not be going back to Cape Town to join Hellenic because we are offering him a slightly better deal and he has already signed a one-year contract with us,” said Jussab.
He said Mponda will play a pivotal role in the Bullets’ Caf tournament exploits.
Mponda confirmed that the Bullets have come up with a counter-offer but he was quick to point out that he is still giving it a huge measure of thought.
“It is true, I am being tempted to sign for Bullets because these days you go where there is a better deal, but it’s not true to say I have put pen to paper already. I am still consulting,” said Mponda, who in the past has turned down offers to play in Germany and South Africa. |
