Fourteen out of the 47 children who were alleged to be practising witchcraft in Maone Area in Limbe last week attended special prayers at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry in the city.
Pastor for the ministry, who asked for anonymity, said the prayers, which started on Monday, were supposed to have taken the whole week, but instead took three days to enable the children to attend school.
He said each child was brought by a parent around 8 every morning and the prayers would go on up to around 2 PM.
They were joined by a nine-year-old boy from Machinjiri and two 10-year-old girls from Chilobwe.
Except for three, the rest of the children “have been delivered” by the prayers.
The pastor said the remaining children can be delivered if their parents decide to take them to the prayers.
“Jesus met these things. Willingness has to come from the parents themselves and their children rather than being forced.
The church got the witchcraft news from one of their ministry’s faithful who was advised to tell the children’s parents they could be delivered if they were brought for prayers.
One of the children said from the time she had an interview with The Nation at Maone last month, she has not eaten any human flesh anymore. She, however, said the man who has been teaching the children the practice used to take her to the graveyard in night where he was whipping her as punishment for revealing the practice.
“On Monday, he came, took me to the graveyard, cut my arm and drunk the blood that oozed from the arm,” explained the child.
Another child, who also claims to have quit the practice, said she regrets having killed two of her relatives.
One of the children’s parents said she is now happy her child is free.
The man said to be the leader is reported to have left Maone a week after the news broke. He is reported to have moved to Chilobwe township. |
