| Miss Southern Africa agents look for support |

Frank Kalonde Media Productions Company which is the local agent for the Miss Southern Africa 2003 Beauty Pageant, are looking for sponsorship from well wishers as they prepare for the contest.
Malawi will participate in the October 31 event to take place in Luanda, Angola and its representative will be Chimwemwe Gondwe, a 20-year-old model from Lilongwe.
In an interview this week, agent Frank Kalonde said while they have received support from two organisations, they need more sponsorship.
“All participating ladies need to rehearse their movements, prepare their own cultural music to suit the catwalk and eat well. They will also be responsible for their own make-up, wardrobe and costumes, including casual, cultural, evening and swim wear,” said Kalonde, justifying the need for the sponsorship.
Currently, it is only two Lilongwe-based companies which have supported Frank Kalonde Media Productions on the project. They are ND Adventures, who have sponsored K10,000 cash for make-ups, and Lee Photo Studio who have supported the venture with photography.
“There will be well wishers contribution books circulating in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu for people to contribute something little to help in organising other activities towards the event,” said Kalonde.
Meanwhile, 13 ladies from the southern Africa region, including Gondwe, have been selected to compete in the annual pageant.
They are Phumile Mtandi, 20, from Swaziland; Sandrine Manantena, 20, from Madagascar; Lebogang Akanyang, 18, from Botswana, Lise Sharon Athanase, 18, from Seychelles and Leneo Seleteng, 21, from Lesotho.
Others are Petrina Thomas, 21, from Namibia; Jull Net, 22, from South Africa; Sophia Byanaku, 20, from Tanzania; Kita Mwape, 18, from Zambia; Phoebe Monjane, 20, from Zimbabwe; Belinda Makako, 19, from The DRC and Mariza Mucavele, 21, from Mozambique. |
