Lilongwe Mpenu Nkhoma MP Louis Chimango (MCP) went into a verbal war with Education Minister George Nga Mtafu when he (Mtafu) accused the Opposition notably MCP of telling donors not to release money to government.
The statement irked Chimango, who told the minister that he had on several times personally talked to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), asking them to consider Malawi.
But Mtafu disputed the statement calling Chimango ‘a double faced person’ who has gone out of the country telling donors bad things about the government and urging them not to release funds.
“Whenever I go out normally in the company of some members in this house never at any time have I said what the minister is saying. Please let us be serious in this house otherwise we will turn on you,” Chimango said.
First Deputy Speaker Loveness Gondwe ruled out Mtafu and challenged him to provide evidence to substantiate his allegations against Chimango.
