A woman who wanted to spend a night with a man at Mangochi Motel, Biwi in Lilongwe a few days ago died mysteriously.
The man, reported to be running a shop in the city, sneaked out of the motel without reporting the death of Beatrice Nyasulu, a businesswoman from Rumphi, who was in the city to visit relatives.
Police spokesman George Chikowi said Nyasulu, 40, booked a room at the motel and instructed the receptionist to allow her male guest into the room she booked.
Chikowi could not say what the cause of Nyasulu’s death was, except that she vomited quite a lot at night.
Evance Namuse, an accountant at the motel, confirmed the incident, saying Nyasulu was found dead and naked in the morning. She had a lot of foam in the mouth.
According to Namuse, nobody at the motel saw the man when he was leaving the premises.
“We reported the matter to police and the corpse was taken to Lilongwe Central Hospital at our expense,” Namuse said.
The incident took place on Thursday, four days after a male Tanzanian guest was also found dead in his room at the same motel. Three of his colleagues also sneaked out of the motel before people knew of the mysterious death.
Mysterious deaths at rest houses in the city are not new. Last year a businessman who booked a room with his lover was also found dead and a few years ago a senior government officer who took his junior female member of staff to a rest house during working hours was also found dead.
