MalawiNet Limited, pioneers of Internet services in the country, has introduced e-mail based fax services that eliminate reliance on fax machines and cut down related costs.
Chief executive officer Kamal Patel said in an interview in Blantyre that the service, called Fax Over Internet Protocol (FOIP), will allow its customers to send e-mails to a fax, fax to e-mail, fax broadcast, desktop fax, web fax among other facilities using an e-mail application.
He said the main features of the service are that there will be no charges for failed faxes, no additional software required and that one will automatically receive confirmation via e-mail after each transmission.
Patel said the service will not interfere with other computer programmes or Internet connection since the technology works in the background.
He said unsuccessful transmissions are re-attempted automatically for four times three minutes apart.
“You can leave the office whilst your PC sends faxes for you over the Internet,” said Patel, adding that under the service a customer is entitled to detailed confirmation reports such as destination number, recipient’s name, pages sent and unique tracking number.
He said customers will benefit in reduced costs of printing documents first before sending them, while saving on all long distance charges with each transmission.
Patel said MalawiNet will offer free website development to potential customers as a way of encouraging Internet advertising in the country.
He said MalawiNet will develop an initial website layout at no cost to the client. |
