A couple from Thyolo testifying in a rape case at Dalton Road Magistrate Court in Blantyre recently, cursed alcohol for an ordeal of sexual abuse which occurred to the wife in their own house.
The couple told Magistrate Margaret Selemani that Alick Wailesi, 39, entered the house and committed the offence because the husband was fast asleep under the influence of alcohol.
Wailesi reportedly squeezed himself in between the pair and raped the wife who mistook him for her husband and responded positively to the sexual act.
“After he had finished, he stood up ready to go. Unfortunately, he stumbled over my husband’s legs who screamed. That was when I realised that I was having sex with a stranger,” said the wife, adding, “ I tried to grab him by hand but he slipped off and ran away.”
The accused person is reported to have, earlier in the day, accompanied the husband at a Kachasu drinking spree. Afterwards, Wailesi volunteered to help the wife carry the intoxicated husband home where he later fooled them.
Wailesi has since denied all the charges. Hearing will continue on a date yet to be set.
