Chilomoni Liquor Gar-dens, Blantyre’s fast-growing entertainment haven, is expanding its structure to accommodate more fun-seekers while giving them a balanced recreation menu.
Since January this year, Liquor Gardens has been associated with live bands and drama but on Sunday it staged a snooker competition aimed at selecting a team to represent the Southern Region.
“This is the beginning of a process of identifying the best snooker players in the Southern Region to assemble a good team. Lilongwe has such a team and we want to have one too,” said proprietor Justin Mkasauka in an interview on Monday.
During the match, spiced by flowing beers, sizzling braii and snacks, the Liquor Gardens’ team led by Wanangwa Thindwa beat Chambers Nite Club 8-5.
Mkasauka said hosting the snooker competition—the second at the place—is in line with his club’s mission to provide a wide variety of entertainment.
“We are living up to our promise to give patrons a balanced entertainment diet,” he said.
Liquor Gardens, which has so far hosted big names in music including Lucius Banda and Zembani Band, Mlaka Maliro and Maloto Vibrations, Billy Kaunda, Allelluya Band and Ben Michael to mention but a few, has completed a second expansion phase to accommodate more patrons.
Mkasauka said the place will celebrate one year this August 24 with reduced price for beers, live bands and “many more surprises.”
