Master Tongole seems to have undergone some transition since he launched his album Sekelela.
After complaints from listeners that the album was not worth their money, Tongole withdrew all copies from the market and went back to the studio to redo it.
“There was something wrong with the mixing and so the quality of the album was not good and there were some concerns raised by my fans and when I saw the problem, I decided to withdraw it from the market and make it better,” Tongole confessed.
“I expect to be through with everything by next month and so the album should be on the market then,” he said.
Tongole said apart from the initial 10 songs, he has added one more song to the re-worked album.
“After the death of [Evison] Matafale, I decided to do one song Mwana Wanga which I dedicated to his memory,” he said.
Tongole was apologetic for the mediocre work.
“To those who bought the first tape, I convey my sincere apologies but I would all the same urge them to go and buy this one, which is better,” he said.
In another development, Tongole disclosed that he has changed the name of his band from Chiyambi Band to Kiyama Sounds.
“Kiyama means the end of the world in Yao and this is my way of reminding the world that we are approaching the end of time.”
Apart from Tongole himself, Kiyama Sounds has such stars as Chicco Kalirani, Michael Mphakati, Evance Mereka and Zebron Kankhunda.
Tongole said he plans to launch the Sekelela soon.
“After I got complaints that the album was not well done, I did not proceed to launch it because I did not want to launch a badly done product,” he said. |
