Lack of sports equipment in Lilongwe will be a problem of the past following the opening of a sports shop by Silver Strikers and former international coach/player Young Chimodzi, who has opened a shop for various sports items in the capital city..
The shop, known as The Sports World, stocks sports items like footballs kits, boots, balls, tracksuits, basketballs, squash balls, rackets, dart boards, golf sticks and other sports equipment.
Speaking in an interview at the shop, Chimodzi said he came up with the decision to open such a place after realising that people in Central Region were having problems in acquiring sports equipment.
“I have seen people travelling even from the North to buy sports equipment in Blantyre and I wanted to ease these problems.”
“We will try to provide equipment for every sporting activities and customers should feel free to make orders for the materials they are looking for,” said Chimodzi, adding he had already received orders from a number of customers.
He said the goods in his shop were from South Africa but pointed out that there was a possibility that he would be able to get equipment from the United Kingdom and Germany in the near future.
“The thing is, we want to supply qualify materials at affordable prices and not cheaper (unreliable items),” said Chimodzi. |
