Pall Mall burns out Lilongwe |

Nobody knows how to throw a party like leading cigarrette distributors BAT do. And nobody knows how to party like Lilongwe people do.
Featuring a star-studded ensemble that included top musician Joseph Tembo, Malawi’s premier reggae group the Black Missionaries, Thomas Chibade, Gift Fumulani, Sally Nyundo, Fuggie Kasipa, Saul Chembezi, Andrew Matrauza and Evance Melekah, the British American Tobacco (BAT)-sponsored party at party mecca Chez Nthemba was meant to be a launch event for the company’s new cigarrette brand—Pall Mall.
But it turned up to be more than a party, as the Lilongwe revellers—who endured a chilly weather, turned the event into a party to remember.
And the revellers were rewarded for braving the cold, with Sally and Chibade opening the dancefloor with a succession of hits before Tembo took it upon himself to drive the revellers off their chairs to the dancefloor, which was soon filled with bodies responding to the irrestable vibes of Mbudye, Taiwala Chikhalidwe and several of Tembo’s classics.
And then there was Black Missionaries, who—whatever the weather—never fail to impress with their version of Chileka Reggae.
BAT Trade Development Executive Regina Mwiyeriwa explained that the Friday night do at Chez Ntemba was meant to be an opportunity to have fun with the company’s consumers while launching the new brand of cigarrette.
“Basically we are continuing with our Pall Mall Burnout parties and having fun with our consumers as we communicate the new brand to them, which is basically all about fun and being all about,” she said.
“Pall Mall is not a brand for the idle dreamers with their heads in the clouds, rather, it’s a brand for an open minded generation that looks at life from a very positive perspective and they understand that every small change can make big differences. We share in their optimism and in their views and like them, we respect what is real and aspire to all that is possible,” she added.
