Feels good to be back
It feels good to be back at work after two weeks of sweet recess.
I enjoyed my short holiday, oh yes I did! It couldn’t have started on a better note than witnessing a very funny incident that happened recently when Angelina, a commercial sex worker stripped a man naked in broad daylight for failing to pay for services rendered at a certain resthouse.
The man attempted to flee in a birthday suit but in no time people had gathered to watch the fiasco.
The funniest part of the whole incident was the way the gentleman weaved his way through the cheering crowd, tattered undies in hand—It was a perfect start to an adventurous holiday.
In some way I would like to give credit to this mischievous fellow. Unlike other cowards who put out their fires on innocent two-year-old kids, he convinced Angelina with a white lie.
The first thing my boss Edward Chitsulo asked me when I reported back to work yesterday, was whether or not I had a good time with my neighbour Irene’s maid—of course the answer was yes, but the truth is that I am thoroughly embarrassed because Irene caught me red handed with the maid and the talk in my neighbourhood has since shifted from the vendors’ eviction from the streets to my escapades with the maid.
But its now time to get serious again. My first assignment would have been today’s function at Lilongwe State House where president Bingu wa Mutharika will salute the netball queens for their exploits at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Unfortunately, I won’t make it.
All the same, I hope Bingu will give each of the ladies a hug because they deserve much more than just a handshake.
I would like to assure the president that hugging the girls will make him forget some of the problems that have been giving him headaches such as criticism by some NGOs on his decision to host president Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and the hot Karonga-Chitipa Road issue.
I only hope he will be careful in the way he cuddles them because the First Lady will be watching very closely.
I would also have loved to see his daughter Tapiwa, I am sure she will be at the function being an ardent netball fan. I will probably have to wait a bit longer.
Oh! By the way, the Telekom Super League kicks off this weekend. K50 million is not the kind of dough to be sneezed at and I am sure some teams are already hunting for juju to help them win the fat cheque. Will Uncle Sam lead them to the Machinga juju man...no trespassing please!
