Coca Cola tourney starts Friday
by Nation Reporter, 02 February 2006 - 07:54:35
This year’s Coca-Cola football competition which involves Blantyre City secondary schools will kicks off Friday alongside a newly introduced netball trophy which will be sponsored by the Blantyre City Schools Sports Committee (BCSSC).
BCSSC’s chairperson Justice Nsopera said the competition will start much earlier this year because it will be played on league basis from zones.
“We have changed the format this year, unlike in the past when it was played on knock-out basis, this time it will be played on league basis.
“As a committee we have also seen it wise to introduce a netball competition for our secondary school girls so that they too can have something to compete for,” explained Nsopera.
The BCSSC chair said all schools that are interested to join the competitions can get more information from their respective zonal chairpersons in Zingwagwa, Ndirande, Bangwe, Chilomoni, Limbe and South Lunzu townships.
In a related development, Nsopera also called upon all sports masters and sports mistresses who participated in circulation volleyball training last year, to start drilling their pupils of levels one to three in readiness for a tournament which is expected to start soon.
