I am not backtracking
I have to congratulate Big Bullets, Civo United and MTL Wanderers for reaching the Fam Cup semifinals as I predicted last week.
Let me also hail Blue Eagles, Dwangwa United and Red Lions for not putting the column into disrespect as Admarc Tigers tried to do at Silver Stadium. The marauding Tigers wanted to defy the prediction by posing a fierce challenge at Silver.
As the two teams meet again at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo Saturday, many people have ruled out the central bankers from the race. Tigers’ coach Ibra Mwase already vowed after the two-all draw at Silver that his boys will kick the bankers out of the race in the replay.
But after a careful analysis, I have decided not to backtrack on the prediction that Eagles, Dwangwa, Red Lions and Tigers will be booted out of the Fam Cup. So I maintain the prediction for last week, which included Tigers on the death list.
Having said that, allow me, dear readers to comment on the statement made by Dobadoba on Tuesday that the action off the pitch was better than what we saw in the field of play. I was equally impressed with the boxing talent on display at Silver.
My humble suggestion is that Sports Council should merge Fam and Malawi Boxing Association, (Maba) to form Football and Boxing Association of Malawi. Heavyweight Walter Nyamilandu should maintain the presidency of the new association.
