The message was about HIV/Aids and family planning but the superb performance by Judges Dancing Troupe of Ndirande left many thinking otherwise.
The troupe is sponsored by Banja La Mtsogolo, a reproductive health NGO.
Member of Parliament for Mwanza East Joe Manduwa joked with Banja La Mtsogolo officials saying the messages did not agree with the dancing.
“How can you tell us to refrain from immoral behaviour while at the same time you are enticing us with your dancing?” joked Manduwa.
The group was in Mwanza during the launch of the Wildlife and Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM)’s 78,000 Pounds Sterling (K7.8 million) sustainable management of natural resources projectfunded by Oxfam.
The cultural troupe aims at educating people on the dangers of Aids and how family planning helps people live good health.
The song Moyo sachita kugula captivated the hearts of many fans who came to watch them perform.
The dancing troupe reminded the audience that life is never bought, once you lose it, it is the end.
However, it is not the message that caught the imagination of the fans but the dancing antics. The way members of the troupe were shaking their bodies made the audience laugh amid hand clapping.
“These people are good. The music they sing agrees with their steps,” said one fan.
The cultural troupe also performed songs of beni, malipenga and many others. The toast of the day, however, was Moyo sachita kugula.
