The Slovac Republic, born out of the ashes of former Eastern European communist Czechoslovakia has established an honorary consul in Malawi represented by David Bapu.

The Slovac Ambassador to Malawi resident in Zimbabwe Jan Valko who presented Bapu to President Bakili Muluzi yesterday, said in an interview the new link would promote trade between the two countries which is insignificant now.

Bapu said the Slovac business community was interested to invest in Malawi explaining that most investors had been waiting for a representative in the country to facilitate their business.
